Community, I’ve spent the past 6 years working at a boutique IB focused on lower & middle-market buy side projects. I come from a background in finance and have a finance degree (state school in PNW). A client/growing personal relationship is looking at hiring a BD leader and I’m being considered. This firm is a family office with just 1 person based in the US (MD who I work with directly already). What should I ask for from a comp structure standpoint? Any bonus percentage as well? Thanks.

BD vs Sales Exploring and trying to understand two options Obvs can mean one to another depending on the company and JD but assume BD is more about finding opps, partnerships, prepping high level gtm where sales is actually trying to close the deal and engaging with your accounts consistently Lets say im joining a fintech startup. Between two roles. What would be better? What would be more lucrative and can open up more opps down the line? (Whether internally or externally)

4 years in pharma consulting and currently interviewing for a BD&L role at a Swiss biotech. The job looks like a great fit for my goal of moving into corp strategy/BD, but the catch is relocation to Switzerland (not a major city). Ideally, I’d stay in London, but I’ve barely seen any pharma/biotech corp strategy or BD roles here recently— and most postings are for 7+ YOE. Curious if anyone thinks hiring in this space might pick up soon?

First Saled Role as a BDM in Melbourne Australia. Starting Salary 89k Base with 15k Car allowance and 5k Fuel allowance paid monthly. Commisions is 10% on all New Orders with 10k end of Year bonus if meeting 100% of Budget, this then goes up if you go above target. I hold a bachelors degree in applied health science and sell medical grade skincare.

If you've spent 1.5 years as a BDR (and got an unexpected promotion as BDR manager), would you stay in the role longer, or would you actively try to aim for an AE role? If the latter, would you try within the company or look outside? I loved my time as an SDR, and I felt like I was progressing every day, but somehow, as a BDR, I'm feeling quite stagnant.

what’s does associate BD comp look like at your firm, is it close to investment teams? first year comp at my firm is 140 base, second year can be 180 base - bonus is discretionary based on performance. curious to see what BD is like at other firms, this pay is higher than investment teams, thinking of trying to switch roles?!

Currently at Big 4 FDD. I’ve got an offer for another B4 for operational / strategy work. Although they have some CDD work (not often), appears that they usually do Standalone work which is a plug or support for QoE / FDD. Thoughts? Is it still good move? Is there a good exit on doing operational work?

Is anyone hiring SAAS/HCM AEs or BDMs for a base 90k+? Moved from the southeast and my company is getting sketchier by the day. I have 5 years of AE/BD experience (though admittedly for kind of a noname brand out here) and I keep getting rejected. Would love some insight on the market here!

Hello. Can anyone please share sales/BD comission structures if you work for small to medium PSP? % levels and if they're gross or net. If net, what specific costs are substracted? I've worked for a PSP and my net comms were net of Admin, IT, and IT costs - which made it very arbitrary. Thanks!
