Had my first group interview on Zoom last Friday. What a strange and awkward experience. There were 10 of us and 1 person doing the interviews. It was traumatizing for some. Many people don't have experience interviewing, much less a group interview on camera. It's got to be the worst way to hire people that I can imagine. One guy couldn't do it and turned his camera off mid-sentence. Has anyone else been through an uncomfortable group interview? I will never partake again. Total waste of time.

Am I going to be worked to the bone if I join a group where I’d be the only associate supporting partners and counsels? It’s a subgroup of a corporate practice that focuses on a specialized area with great exit options and operates as a support group for other transactional and/or lit groups (like tax or IP). It’s a newly created position meaning there aren’t any previous associates that I can ask about their experience. I really like type of work the team does but worried about being miserable.

EY-Parthenon can someone de-mystify EYP's team structure? Applied for role that says "this relates to UK Corporate and Growth Strategy only", and not Transaction Strategy and Execution (TSE), and then there's turnaround and restructuring strategy mentioned separately as the third core focus area. Website vacancies reference other teams, and some have "executive" roles and some consultant. What is what here? Also where's the place to be and where to avoid at EYP, and why? Open to all insights EY

I recently joined a new firm and while everyone’s technically nice, there’s a clear “in group” on every project. Jokes I don’t get, Slack threads I’m not tagged in, impromptu coffee chats I only hear about after the fact. It’s not toxic, but it’s definitely isolating. I’m trying not to force connections or be that person who pushes too hard to fit in, but I also don’t want to stay on the outside. How do you actually build real relationships across teams like this?

I’ve always believed Employee Resource Groups are one of the most underrated parts of corporate life. They create spaces where people can connect, share experiences, and build community across functions and levels. For me, ERGs have been more than just networking—they’ve been a source of mentorship, professional growth, and even personal support. Curious to hear from others: how have ERGs impacted your career or workplace experience?

If a small specialized lit group gets poached by another firm, is it bad to join their group at the already-established firm they went to? They are building it out at the established firm and looking for associates at other firms for now, but not sure if folks have experience with that. Seems like a good way to pivot into a specialty, but worry about the risk too.

What are your thoughts about group interviews? I'm not a fan at all but for the last quarter, management has been pushing group interviews and I'm not sure what they think the benefit is. I just think that no candidate is feeling seen or heard, and also that it reduces our chances at really gauging their potential.... How do other's feel about them?

In group interviews, how does a candidate stand out to you? I feel like it's so tricky to gauge some things, and more importantly, I feel like there are higher chances of making the wrong assumptions and missing out on red flags in group settings. What's been your experience with it, and how do you prepare for them?

EYP Software Strategy Group or A&M PEPI MASS / Software Group? Looking and interviewing at both and trying to get insight on comp, group prestige, exit ops, and quality of the people/talent. Whatever my next role is I really want to work with exceptional people so I’m all ears.

Thoughts on the M&A group at CGSH? Dealflow, culture, training, learning and exposure, ability to work continuously on multiple deals at the same time. Can one in the M&A group do work related to other practices within the Corporate Practice? Thanks!
