      Consulting

      Lead Systems Engineer
      5mo

Hello, I am currently a lead systems engineering within a tier 1 defence company. I want to move into consulting as I would like to utilise my communication skills more and advance my project level management. I have been looking at PA Consulting’s Systems Engineering Consultant roles in the London office and just wondered if anyone had any information on the compensation, types of work and ultimately the likelihood of PA being open to my application? Thanks!

I recently left consulting after several years to join a growth-stage startup in the NE as a product manager. Big jump in comp, role sounded interesting, and I figured it was a good time to explore something else. After a couple months, miss it. The comraderie, variety, and intensity just isn’t there at my new firm, and I find myself reminiscing on the fun (which was mixed with its fair share of pain) of consulting. If anyone experienced something similar, curious to hear how you approached it

Does anyone else feel like PA is just a series of partners pulling up the ladder behind them? First it’s my firm getting rid of promotion from SM to partner, now they’re saying they’re reducing promotions from manager to SM. So we get to work long hours for mid to decent salaries, trash bonuses, and uncertain if any long term pay off. I would quit to industry immediately but honestly industry job market/salaries are high key ass

For those who left PA at manager level or higher, how did you finally do it? I've been trying for months now but no offers yet that would pay enough. I was told twice by places that interviewed me that they went for someone with more "experience" - which I think is code word for someone who already is working in-house. I've resigned to working another busy season here but need some hope. I'm done with PA but I'm stuck for now. I'm an experienced manager.

I'm a Systems Engineer (MBSE) with three years in industry. and I'm deciding between two companies, Capgemini and PA Consulting, both offering system consultant roles in London. Which company is better for career growth and general benefits? I'm looking to move into IT and become an Enterprise Architect in the future, so I'm interested in their support for lateral moves. Any advice will be much appreciated.

I've become tired of job searching, and am thinking about doing independent consulting. I spent 15 years in a Big 4 company, followed by work in industry. I'm curious if anyone has insight on where to look for contract consulting opportunities? I am aware that PWC offers a "Talent Exchange" offering (they take 5% of your fees)... but any other thoughts? Thank you so much, I appreciate any perspectives!

Appreciate this is a Londoners in Consulting thread but is there any North West lurkers in here? I’m looking to understand the average consulting manager salaries up there? Been in London for 4 years at C level and looking to move North. Have been looking at consulting jobs still and it’s mainly Big4/Accenture up there. I’d be keen to know any other firms worth looking at.
