Lately I’ve been thinking that the most valuable skill in healthcare isn’t clinical expertise anymore, it’s emotional endurance. The ability to absorb stress, grief, anger, and constant pressure without breaking seems more rewarded than actual skill or knowledge. That realization worries me. It feels like the system is built to test how much people can take rather than how well they can care. Does anyone else feel uneasy about what that says about where healthcare is headed?

With 15+ years as an account executive in the post acute space, I am looking to pivot to healthcare tech and saas. The company I interviewing with is a startup and doesn’t require previous saas experience, but industry success and knowledge. Being able to identify pain points within the acute and post acute space and comfortability in terms of selling a solution is most important. Anyone successfully make this pivot and be offered a position over candidates with direct saas background?

I have been in healthcare a long time. I have NEVER seen the amount of behaviors from admin and staff as much as I do now. I’m burned out and it’s not in me to go back to school one more time in my early 50s. It’s so bad everywhere and the amount of staff who lack knowledge and common sense just blows my mind. I am a single income household. I sincerely hope I never get sick and have to go to the hospital. Things are bad in hospitals, rehabs, nursing homes, ect. Patients are suffering.

Ive been a CLS for approx 20 years & work for one of the biggest healthcare companies in California for about 16years. I stated before the affordable care act when boomers werent retireing, hospitals were in a hiring freeze, staffing was in shortages, which are all still issues today. Im in maximum burn out, I dont want to be a CLS or work in healthcare anymore. Im in late 40's and have small children so I do need to work but have no idea what kind of job I can do or trasnition into.

Anyone work for United Health Group/Optum Insight? There is a position open and after being laid off from my job in October Im wondering if this would land me back in the same spot. Plus they give no ideas on PTO. State all these other incentives but no mention of PTO. Anyone have Pros & Cons? I know each department is different. It would be for a Senior Data Entry Clerk.
