Hey anyone here have any insights about working at TikTok? Specifically San Jose based teams like Effect House. I've seen a lot of mixed things online, some very concerning, but others seem pretty manageable. I'm expecting a fast paced FAANG environment with some late night international meetings, but beyond that I'd like to know how manageable the workload is. I know some people saying 996, and other people saying 9 to 5. I have no idea what to think.

Management has decided to transition all employees to be in office 5 days a week. This deprecates the hybrid work style that many employees (including myself) were hired on with as a selling point for working with TikTok. Seen as a cost cutting measure, the employees who will no longer be able to work for TikTok with this change will be forced to quit -- allowing the company to avoid paying severance and the higher wages of employees who've been employed for 2+ years.
