I explain that in the job description before we proceed any further in the interview that upselling is mandatory and not optional. I explain what an upsell is and what it isn't. In the event someone is struggling with upselling, I upsell during non peak times, I go toe to toe with my strongest upseller to show how it is done. I give the smart Alecs a chance to call me out and challenge me when they struggle on wording or upselling. For me the art of upselling is making our guest feel that the add on goes well with their meal and not forced on their bill. My supervisor used to call me a schmoozer when I used to upsell or train the cashiers on upselling. I didn't know whether to thank him or fly the birdie when no one but him was looking. Another thing at showtime, you have to have Aces in their places.

I currently work for a local buisness where I was tasked with setting up an online sales system. I was told Id recieve a certain amount of hours and pay well over a month ago. Never recieved my initial eval raise and then the project was pushed back several weeks so the owner could go on a 3 week vacation. I told them about not getting the raise and asked when the next pay bump would start since the date had been moved. I was told since i never got the first raise Id be given the second raise

Friends - I’m an optimist but have lived through all the big economic cycles since the early 70s (child then but I still remember it). UPS announced 78,000 job cuts today. I do some consulting work in the transportation industry and a client said last year was the worst in their history. They the article on cardboard sales being strongly down. Increasing consumer debt defaults, recent corporate bankruptcies in auto related industries, and a concern… continued

I recently reached out to my church community to see if anyone could refer me to an Executive Assistant role. Living in Silicon Valley, I thought the network might bring solid leads. To my surprise, I soon received a call from a CPO at a tech company who offered me a position. However, the salary was far too low to accept. When I raised my concern, she replied, “On Upwork I can hire someone for two-thirds of this.” It left me questioning—are platforms like Upwork driving wages down?

I'm at a state agency that has budget problems, my higher ups have given no indication of lay offs, but the budget picture is not rosy and I'm the least experienced lawyer in the office. I also had a severe medical issue that required me to take two months off before it was addressed. Any advice for me? Id like to stay here longer to get back to normal after my medical episode, my boss continually assures me that I'm a valued employee, and our office consistently has too much work.

      Salary Negotiations

      Hardware Engineering Manager
      2mo

I was promoted just over 2 years ago from a Senior Engineer to the Team leader. I was given a 5% uplift but that was erroded 2 months later to 0 as everyone else got a 5% inflation raise which I did then qualify for due to my recent promotion. I have asked for the raise but been told its very unlikely. My next planned move is to demand a demotion to my old job but on my current salary. I think they are getting my extra responsibilty for free. Any advice?

I swear to god that retail higher ups are really, really good at ghosting people that they've the confirmation letter to. Had an online interview which was successful, and manager sent an email confirming I was hired. They said I'd start training this week...I still haven't received a contract, or anything else other than the confirmation letter. I messaged them again on Tuesday to follow up...still no response. so does that mean I didn't get the job?

I‘m kinda fed up with these annual “raises” how is it fair that some supervisors are making less than their hourly employees that have been there the same amount of time, and they get better health care. Ive been with the company longer than id like to admit, at this point, should I negotiate a better raise or just quit. A few cents in raises every year that doesn’t even cover cost of annual inflation smh what’s wrong with UPS.

Disappointed by how unorganized the hiring process was at Upstart. I was excited after my first interview, but my second-round was canceled last minute with no notice. Despite follow-ups, I never heard back. I expected more professionalism and clear communication from a company I was genuinely excited about. Has anyone had a similar experience and it turned out well? I’ve lost the morale for follow ups at this point.
