BioMarin is an amazing company to work for. Senior management tries incredibly hard to take care of the people that work at the company. The benefits are incredibly generous, the environment is... family-friendly, and when a pandemic isn't an issue there are a lot of company get-togethers and celebrations. I could not have been happier about my time here, they live their core values and the CEO brings that European care and compassion for their employees into the workplace.
The upper management on the lower level is horrible. They play games at the expense of other people's careers and choose favorites within the employees. More junior employees will be promoted past... senior employees solely because managers play favorites. Toxic employees are promoted and their poor performance is buried and covered while those who actually do a good job are stifled and eventually leave the company due to lack of growth and opportunity. I have to believe there are wonderful departments within this company but my department was horrendous. Career opportunities are non-existant if you end up in the wrong department with the wrong manager which also means your compensation is stagnant. Do your research
Advice to Management
Listen to what employees say and report even if it's about their superiors. I know for a fact that people have reported their managers and peers only to have nothing happen because the management... protects each other. If more than one person is saying the same thing you can't pretend it isn't a problem.
