I worked at Alinta Energy full-time for more than 5 years
The wholesale/ spot trading and wider tpm team is great place to be, along with the corporate services team that supports that business pillar. Lots of engagement, everyone gets along well, no BS,... and great opportunities to get involved in lots of projects. If you are competent you will get lots of rope to run with ideas and projects with no micro management. You will be expected to deliver, but no one will shoot you for trying. Genuinely great team of smooth and supportive operators. The executive team and Jeff are very approachable. It’s a flat organisation, so everyone has opportunity to present and bring ideas to their executive. Even if you are an entry level analyst/ manager, chances are the executive team know you by name and will come talk to you individually if they need something which gives a high degree of work satisfaction. Socially as well, the executive team is very approachable, not just with after work drinks, but also things like sport, one of the executive, Dan, runs a ongoing boxing fitness session, which anyone can join. Offices are modern and chic. And the bonus system is pretty good.
It can get pretty busy at times, and certain teams are under the pump a lot, however this is more a reflection of the industry being inundated with market and regulatory changes. I understand most... other energy companies are similarly experiencing this. Also it can be quite hard to get experience in different roles, it would be great if in the future role sharing / rotations were introduced, this would be good way to cross skill employees and give them career development.
