Current Contractor - Editor

I have been working at Scribendi for more than a year

Pros

Very flexible work. You can choose what you want to edit. So if poorly written ESL orders do not appeal, you don't have to accept them. Do a good job, and you may get regular clients. The variety is... also appealing - from marketing brochures, PowerPoint presentations, resumes to academic articles, admissions essays and personal letters. The company is very clear that editors are not required to rewrite or write an essay for students nor to check for plagiarism. I have been privileged to work on some very academic articles due to be submitted to journals with a high impact factor. I live in a country where it would be difficult to find work, so this work suits me well. As you get more experienced, you will get faster, so the pay will be better. And the pay is better for orders with short deadlines and at weekends.

Cons

There are lean months, e.g. August. However, this is well known, and you can think ahead to bolster your earnings beforehand. When you first start, the QA assessments can be very demotivating.

Advice to Management

The company is currently looking at expanding the range of services. This is a great idea, as the remote editors have a vast range of specialisms.
