I worked at Sportsbet.com.au full-time for more than 3 years
Fun and relaxed environment. Great Culture Beers at least once a week (every Friday)
Management grooms people they like, not people with potential to grow. Politics. You're in the bad books if you do something bad and will be perceived that way. Offers secondment opportunities for... development to staff but when a permanent opportunity comes, job is advertised and offered to another candidate with lesser experience. Required to do multiple roles while maintaining your own day to day job.

Small startup company feel. The owners are nice.
I hired in when the technical direction was to transition from a Microsoft shop to a python shop. The team consisted of developers drawn from Deluxe and Imax representing many years of practical... industry experience in digital cinema key distribution systems. The working environment was highly collaborative and the team was eager to explore new technologies. Flex time was great. However, all that changed when several Technicolor employees were hired. In six months, my manager was fired and replaced with the Technical hires, and flex time was curtailed. Six months after the management change, the development was out-sourced to foreign countries, the team laid off, and the technology flipped back from a python to a Microsoft C# shop. UK based company doesn't understand CA labor laws - poor health, vacation, sick leave benefits. Owners didn't understand the technology or team they had.
