Does ASB Bank offer a yearly bonus?

Pros

Great team environment COVID-19 as made the Bank consider Working from home and Flexibility an option. People around you are knowledgeable and willing to share information

Cons

No pay rises 2 years in a row Risk renumeration review promised, recognising that ASB is paying below market for in demand Risk and Compliance roles, but was put on hold over COVID-19 and never revisited. Limited learning opportunities – expected to fund growth yourself Expected to go above and beyond your job description. Teams are run without the FTE to complete the yearly strategy and then disadvantaged in annual reviews. No clear strategy or tone from the top, values based organisation that leaves a lot of wiggle room. Rude executives- ELT who believe they can not follow policy or frameworks. No transparency, every decision done behind locked doors leading to bias and protectionism.

Advice to Management

This is not rocket science, you know what should be fixed/done but you are happier to deliver dividend and look good to the Board and CBA than look after your staff.

Teams are run without the FTE to complete the yearly strategy and then disadvantaged in annual reviews.

What are pay raises like at ASB Bank?

Pros

Secure job in a volatile world, performed well through covid, daily flex for working from home and when you want to work. Salary is above average but annual increases are always at inflation rate. Offices are modern, reasonably good culture and people.

Cons

Advancement is challenging. Unless you're a star in which you'll be fast tracked to all new opportunities you'll have to take every opportunity for roles that come up and they have no inherent advantage for staff who have been around for a while. They prefer to get exact job spec rather than adjacent 80% suitable internal hires. Suits them but makes your career trajectory harder and might seem easier at another organisation. Management in general are competent and competitive however there is some long term complacency on succession with many seniors staying in their roles for good. Very much a club too with a few favourites who once landed in the circle stay and circulate onwards forever more. Very much a rule for the club and the rest. The issue with all of this is once you've realised this is the case your choice is a comfortable safe job going nowhere or go somewhere else.

Advice to Management

Keep an eye on the nepotism.
