What is health insurance like at Mainfreight?

Pros

The insurance benefits were nice.

Cons

No application of future leader program structure at all. New graduates stay away. Manager that hired me fresh out of college had to transfer, new manager swiftly fired me. Had to move at my own expense for position. Job itself was stressful, with vague expectations from management. No application of corporate values or mission statement in the work place. Working overtime on salary is very common.

Advice to Management

Apply the mission statement and corporate values in the work place. Fully staff the branches and adhere to promises made to both clients and employees. Either eliminate overtime for salaried employees or pay them for it. Train new managers before giving them responsibilities.

Does Mainfreight offer sponsored degrees?

Pros

-People focused -Willing to invest in staff (long term) -Opportunity everywhere (be prepared to travel/move for it) -Flat level Management, your opinion is valued. - People want you to succeed, train your successor to be better than you so that you can move up the ladder. (great incentive to empower others, instead of cutting them down to make yourself look like the hero)

Cons

What Grad Program?? You are an entry level employee with extra steps. A glorified fork lift operator if you will. The title is great, but it means there is an excuse to pay you less than the person next to you without tertiary education . There is also a bit of a CuLtY vibe , which I have grown to sort of like. I feel extremely proud to wear the uniform, as if I am part of the "TEAM".

Advice to Management

Grad program is misleading and needs work. Work to keep the culture, easy to say Special people Special company. Harder to make the people believe it and feel it.
