I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at AST Defeasance (Los Angeles, CA) in Jan 2020
Interview
Basic phone screen, super easy excel/word test, and disorganized in-person interview. The office space is incredibly underwhelming; it consists of one open room with some cubicles and one office for the president. It felt very claustrophobic as all of the team is in the open room, which is about the size of a living room. The president/MD never asked any questions about my resume, just a bunch of random questions about sports and university. The pay is pretty laughable for a financial analyst position, and it's only a financial analyst position in title; the role itself is not technical at all and you just plug numbers into an excel template. Interviewing with this firm was honestly not worth my time at all.

What do you want to know about the role/ do you have any questions?
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at AST Defeasance (Los Angeles, CA) in July 2019
Interview
Had a phone screen with the manager in charge of HR in the NY office followed by a phone interview with the director in LA. After that, I was assigned a short excel and writing test. Then I had two in-person interviews with the director and a couple of the financial analysts. Overall, the people were nice and it was an easy process. However, there was not much room to negotiate salary and it was a lot lower than I expected for a finance position.
