I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (New York, NY) in June 2018
Interview
The interview was totally bizarre. I was asked to, on the spot, pitch a picture sharing app to venture capitalists 12 years IN THE PAST. So not only was I asked to pull together a coherent story in a matter of seconds (for which someone would normally have weeks or months to do) but I also had to time travel. Then I was asked to form a team as well as make technology decisions. My knowledge of the state of the art technology circa 2006 is a little rusty, so it didn't go well. Also, when I asked about work-life balance I was told "well you know, they say 50 is the new 40". That told me everything I needed to know. I will not be pursuing roles at Amazon anytime soon.
