I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Ancestry (Provo, UT) in May 2016
Interview
I had a friend who worked there which helped me get an interview. First was contacted by recruitment to go over some basics. Then the hiring manager called me to get a better feel. Then I was called in for an in office interview. I met with two groups for about an hour each. Mostly technical questions. You get a little care package just for coming to interview, which I thought was pretty cool.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Standard engineering questions. How do you test various scenarios. Solving problems based off of data structures knowledge. Then some domain specific questions. They really want to see your thought process in tackling issues. How deep are you digging into the problem to understand it and what are you doing to iterate a solution.
The conversation went well and felt engaging. The candidate communicated ideas clearly, showed practical understanding of security concepts, and asked thoughtful questions. Overall, a positive interaction with strong potential for the role.
