      People Partner Interview

      5 Aug 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Arla Foods UK (London, England) in July 2021

      Interview

I applied for an FTC role which I was very enthusiastic about. After two weeks or so I was contacted by their internal Recruitment Partner who I went back in forth with to agree on a date due to their work schedule. As an active jobseeker it is imperative to ensure that your CV is not too long winded and given my current role; it means I get to work for different sectors in business and including many reputable big corps. After the telephone screening was carried I felt ‘well received’ by this person only to receive the news a day later or so that my application has been unsuccessful because I had no experience in food and beverage. Given that this was not listed in my CV; it did not mean that I did not have the experience; in fact it was the opposite as I held HRBP role under the umbrella of the Consultancy I worked for for many F&B production company of which had I have listed would have resulted in 3 additional pages to my CV which often a longer CV works against you during application process. We had a small amount of time for the screening and so could not touch upon my entire work history however a screening stage is just to get a flare of someone’s experience of which an interview would then explore it in more depth and had I have been fast tracked to that stage; I would have no doubt have highlighted those experiences. However I wrote a comprehensive email highlighting my experience and knowledge within the industry hoping that the Talent Partner would be responsive to this but they were not. The fact is companies will miss out on quality candidates limiting themselves to particular sectors especially due to the simple fact that HR processes remain almost identical if not completely al across board unless whereby company have counterparts in other countries outside of the UK. Additionally if they continue to only select candidates from the same sector then essentially those people would have the ‘same mindset and thinking process’ therefore would only be able to provide the same methods over and over again whereas an individual from a different sector would have fresher ideas that is not ‘common’ within that sector..just a little polite advice!. It was a shame as I thought I was a great fit for the role and by the response I received from this individual at the telephone screening ‘they seem to agree and be equally as enthusiastic as I was’ but that goes to show that you should never rely on the other party’s response. Oh well..with due respect; it’s their loss because I am an asset to any company and have proven time and time again to churn out effective results that my peers and colleagues do not even think of exploring.
