I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Aspen Institute in Sept 2025
Interview
Made it to the second round with the program associate and program director. Neither of them were particularly good interviewers. There would be long pauses where they would just stare at me and say out loud, "hmm what should I ask next?" Plus, every question I asked at the end, he would answer, "I don't really know how to answer that." It was very clear they had already decided not to hire me, and felt as if they didn't want to waste their time talking to me. Asked questions with no ryhme or reason.

Question 1
What is your approach to event planning? what is your approach to administrative work?
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Aspen Institute (New York, NY) in Sept 2024
Interview
The interview process was fairly streamlined, with a screening interview followed by a panel interview. I found that the panel interview included a few unorthodox questions which made it challenging for someone preparing in a traditional manner, however, the questions were still fair.
I applied online. I interviewed at Aspen Institute in Jan 2021
Interview
I applied for multiple positions & had a few interviews, mostly for Program Coordinator roles. Never moved beyond phone screening interviews. I noticed they seem to only hire minorities--I am a middle aged white man. You can see staff pics and bios on their website. In fact all the interviews were with non-white men. Nothing wrong with diversity but if that's all you care about, it's problematic. Of course look at their top leaders--all white.
