Interview
I had a phone screen with a recruiter than a one-hour video technical interview with the lead data scientist. I did not move forward after the tech screen. The recruiter was very unresponsive and did not provide that information. She just ignored my emails. Some of the questions during the tech screen were: (1) Suppose Buzzfeed has a dynamic news flash where initially there are lots of hits and it diminishes. How do you sustain the rate of hits? How do you measure it? Design an experiment. (2) Suppose there is a 'share' button on the top and bottom of the page. What metric do you use to measure where the button should be? (3) Some SQL questions, (4) Create a function to compute the Jaccard similarity scores for all of the other articles with respect to all pairs

Interview
Had one video interview where I had to talk about a previous project I'd done and ideas I had for projects to work on during the summer with them. The ideas didn't necessarily have to be things I could do or would do, but were used to see my thought process. I was expected to answer technical questions about my previous project (how the models work, why I chose certain tools, etc)

Interview
I had a 30 min semi-technical phone screen with a data scientist and a 1 hr technical video interview with another data scientist. I emailed the recruiter twice to follow up but did not receive a response. Common courtesy would be appreciated.

Question 1
Some soft skills questions I was asked include projects I'd like to work on, what I'm looking for in a team, what attracted me to BuzzFeed. The video interview involved using codepad to demonstrate coding ability. I was asked SQL queries and to write code that involved the Jaccard similarity score. I was also asked about A/B testing, hypothesis testing and case studies of attracting users to sites given different features.
