I had three interviews for a role in their Denver-based legal department. The initial phone screen with the recruiter was very positive—the recruiter was informative and the call was scheduled in a timely fashion. The second interview was a phone interview with the hiring attorney. The attorney missed our first appointment. It took about two weeks to reschedule. Once we connected, the discussion was productive and very positive. It took nearly a month of slow emails and poor communication to get the in-person interview scheduled. The day of, things were very positive. It was a standard interview with four of the other attorneys in the department. The serious issues began after this third interview. Communication from the recruiter (internal to CHI) was slow and often I had to initiate contact for updates. I was repeatedly told “Let me check with the hiring attorney for an update” only to be left hanging or to receive an update that the attorney hadn’t made a decision yet. This continued for ten weeks. I accepted a position elsewhere and notified the recruiter in a final attempt to obtain some kind of update on their decision. The recruiter never responded to me email. The role I interviewed for was a director-level position—to not even receive a “thank you” or other acknowledgement of the time I spent waiting for an update is frankly disheartening. I am very let down with the entire process.
