      Senior Python Engineer Interview

      16 Mar 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Darvis in Mar 2022

      Interview

Spoke with a recruiter took a test; I abandoned the test. "The medium is the massage." Calendly sent me two pokes to confirm; Calendly has never poked me before. I think we can conclude this is something you turn on, rather than off. The (web based) test software made me agree to accept tracking software from five vendors. I sent a note asking if they thought this was ethical and there was no reply. It took full screen and wanted the camera and microphone. One question was a "can you follow written instructions" question which had nothing particular to do with python. The second question was a number of multiple choice questions about a particular library, and if I'd been using that library in the last month it would have been doable off the top of my head although normally I keep the documentation at hand. This library or a specific use case requiring detailed knowledge of it was not called out in the job ad or by the recruiter. I concluded none of this was good and abandoned the process.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Will you repeatedly acknowledge pointless emails? Will you let us track you, and are you ok with our vendors selling your information on? Can you read for comprehension and follow written instructions? Have you utilized this particular library we've never mentioned recently enough that the finer points of syntax and semantics are fresh in your mind; or, are you willing to lie about looking it up in the documentation?
