      Interview

Great process getting to meet the team. Had a good tour of the office space and was able to get a good feel of the culture during the 3 hour process. Ended up speaking with about 6 people throughout answering a wide range of questions that align with the core values of the company.

Questions were asked about experience selling and cold calling.

      Sales Development Representative Interview

      16 Mar 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Eventbrite

      Interview

Was invited to interview via referral. Had a quick call with a sales manager to go over experience and discuss the position followed by an in-office 3 hour interview with various team members involving a role play. The in-person was easy excluding situational questions based on prior experience. “Tell me about a time ____ happened and how did you react” type questions. For an advertised entry level role, the questions seemed excessive. If you don’t have a specific example, they don’t react well. Overall, the process was smooth, but I did receive conflicting information on next steps following the in-person. The recruiter had instructed that I would hear back next day, which seemed soon, but was appreciated given a multiple offer situation. The recruiter followed up a day later than expected to schedule a call to go over “next steps,” which I incorrectly assumed would be positive. Instead they scheduled a call to deliver a rejection and immediately went into unrequested negative feedback. In the future, I’d recommend recruiting not teeing up next steps with a candidate with such positive language, as it set me up for an awkward and unappreciated conversation.

I appreciate your thoughtful feedback, and I'm sorry to hear your experience interviewing at Eventbrite wasn't positive. Our philosophy as a team is to discuss with candidates how they'd prefer to hear about next steps, and deliver timely follow up in the format that feels most comfortable for that candidate. When we're busy or moving quickly, we can stray away from our goal. I will work with our Recruiters to ensure your feedback is heard, and we continue to try our best moving forward. -Erin Momont, Interim Head of Recruiting
