The interviewer had been directed by her manager to speak with me rather than selecting me herself, and that dynamic was pretty obvious throughout our conversation. It was one of those interviews where you can tell right away you’re not moving forward, haha. What really sealed it was when she shared that the salary range was actually $30K lower than what was listed online. Not a major point, but I did find it interesting that she was both the recruiter and a cross-functional partner. I imagine that kind of dual role doesn’t always work in candidates’ favor.
