I applied in-person. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Forever 21 (Toronto, ON) in July 2015
Interview
I applied by bringing my resume to the cash register and asked if they were currently hiring. The employee took my resume and told me to write my availability on the back. I got a call about two weeks later and the hiring manager asked me to come in and pick a time for my interview a few days later any time from 2 PM to 8 PM. She was doing group interview every fifteen minutes with about three people in each group. We sat at the front of the store. Really simple interview - there was only four questions (see below). She also asked for our availability and if we had any questions for her. Each of us answered one by one.
Got a call about three days later to come back for orientation in exactly a week. There were 18 people at orientation with a lot of them being high school kids with no retail experience. To begin, one of the managers walked through the store explaining each section. Then we broke into two groups and went through paperwork we had to sign and the employee handbook. That took two hours and it was ridiculously redundant. We then took a 10 minute break and came back to help clean up the store for half an hour because orientation was suppose to go from 5 PM to 8 PM. We won't get scheduled for work until the paper work goes through.
My friend also got hired at the same location two weeks before me and his group had 10 new hires. Similar process and orientation, except their group had to stay and help close. The mall closes at 9 PM but they were cleaning until midnight. Also, their paperwork didn't go through for two, almost three weeks after their orientation so they were waiting around to get scheduled.
Good luck!
simple and not very structured, they seem more concerned on looks and hiring people with no experience rather than experienced people with potential to drive the business. People seem friendly, but interviews are too simple and obvious they are looking for looks.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
If hired, do you think you would dress up to current fashion trends
It was quick and easy. It did not last more than 20 minutes and I had no prior retail experience before applying. They asked me basic interview questions. I recommend applying
