I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at GameStop in Oct 2009
Interview
I submitted an app because a new store was opening up. I had a detailed resume with it and the hiring manager was actually extremely interested in what my resume was composed of, even if it did not contribute to retail experience. I had two interviews, the first one just being the initial interview with basic questions about myself, what I know about the gaming industry, and why I want to work there. The second interview was a test over the ESRB ratings (it's really easy). Once completed, I was hired on the spot. GameStop tries to be diverse with their candidates. I was the most knowledgeable person of my gender to apply. Knowing what you are talking about really helps. My hiring manager was very relaxed and even made a lot of jokes.

Question 1
I think the most difficult question was "What are your weaknesses?" The best advice I got about this question is take something negative and turn it into a positive.
Very simple and easy going. First was a group interview and then an official secondary interview at the store. Everything was communicated very well and all questions were relevant to experience needed.
I was asked several behavioural questions, to determine my suitability for working in a retail environment. The focus was on my ability to learn and understand the store rules, as well as be able to handle customer needs. Very little was asked about video games.
