The interview process was good, but what happened during the hiring process was anything but good. I went through the interview process and was hired just 2-3 weeks later. I was then informed of the pre-employment screening that includes a drug test, at which point I was honest with the team hiring me that I had used cannabis within the last 30 days. The team ensured me that this would not be a factor in my employment with GFS and I even worked at HQ for two days before they received my drug test results and terminated me. Given that I had received confirmation from the hiring team that this was not a determining factor for my employment and the fact the Michigan has legalized recreational use of cannabis since 2018, this termination was a big surprise and GFS put me in an awful situation (having already resigned from my previous position with another company). All that said, my advise to you is; DO NOT TRUST ANYONE that says the drug test is not a factor in your employment with GFS, no hiring manager is able to trump this policy even if they tell you otherwise. I truly hope that they will update their pre-employment screening process to reflect the world today, as I believe they are missing out on quality talent for their company. But until they adapt a less archaic policy, it is their loss!
