I applied in-person. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Harris Teeter in July 2011
Interview
I initially went into the store to inquire about jobs and was directed to the website. I applied online, and after two weeks returned to the store to follow up. Some time later I returned for my interview and drug test. The interview was a breeze and the manager was impressed by my qualifications; she basically offered me the position on the spot. I had to wait a couple more weeks, however, for my drug test to come back. The entire hiring process took about a month.
Once I had the interview the process was easy. The difficult part was convincing the management to review my application and grant me the interview; they seemed complacent with their store and not particularly interested in hiring new employees.

Question 1
I don't remember any difficult or unexpected questions - it was all pretty standard and straightforward.
Straightforward process and not too difficult of questions. Went to corporate office, there were several other candidates there to interview as well. All went through interview process around the same time other candidates in separate areas, and then rejoined once interview was completed to start onboarding.
I applied online. I interviewed at Harris Teeter (Greensboro, NC) in Jan 2026
Interview
I apply through the Harris Teeter careers website.
Then In-Person, lasts about 20 minutes
Very casual and conversational.
They ask Basic questions like “Tell me about yourself.”
“How would you handle an unhappy customer?”
“What would you do if an item scans the wrong price?”
Pretty simple and straight forward, the hiring manager was nice. I'm a full time student so it was a low level part time position. If you have even average conversational skills you should be just fine.
