      Recruiter Interview

      1 Jan 2018
      Anonymous employee
      Dublin, Dublin
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at HubSpot (Dublin, Dublin) in Nov 2017

      Interview

I originally applied online in June ‘17 and was contacted to arrange an interview within a week of applying. 1st round interview/screen: 30-minute video interview with the recruiter discussing my background, career aspirations and interests. The recruiter provided a further insight into HubSpot and the position I'd applied to. There was ample time to ask questions and the interview was conversational enabling me to feel at ease and perform to my best. 2nd round interview: 30-minute video interview with the director of recruiting where we discussed my project management capabilities, my individual tech-related contributions in previous roles and recruiting event ideas. Following my second interview, I received feedback that I had been unsuccessful. The feedback call was very positive but I didn’t have enough tech specific recruiting experience for the position available. The recruiter informed me that she would get in touch towards the end of the year when further positions were likely to become available in the team. To be honest, I wasn’t very hopeful so I was taken by great surprise when I received an email in November asking whether I was still interested in a position at HubSpot. I was invited to a 3-hour final round interview on-site at the Dublin office three weeks later and asked to prepare a short task in advance. Although I was aware of the schedule and who I was meeting, the additional information below relates specifically to my experiences. Initial catch-up with recruiter - an overview of what to expect for the morning and useful tips 1 x 30 minute interview with recruiter – knowledge and experience of tech recruiting 1 x 30 minute interview with recruiting manger – about my search capabilities 1 x 30 minute interview with EMEA recruiting – about my ability to persuade and influence 1 x 30 minute interview with Technical Recruiting Team Lead – about the culture code, time management Finally a tour of the office and an opportunity to ask any additional questions Interviews can be pretty nerve-wracking and on first glance, my interview schedule looked quite intense however, time flew by! I was made to feel very comfortable from the minute I entered the office and although it probably sounds a little weird, I actually really enjoyed my interviews. I’m very grateful that HubSpot gave me another opportunity and am super excited to join the team in 2018. If you're interested, I would recommend you take a look at the culture code to see whether it might be the place for you, read the regular blog posts on HubSpot’s career blog - Move On Up and 'like' the amazing HubSpot Life Facebook page which has a wealth of useful information! There are regular Facebook Live videos about the company, how to succeed during the application and interview stages and it also provides insight into the culture and workplace.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at HubSpot in Jan 2026

      Interview

Started process with a phone screening lasting about 30/35 minutes with a recruiter. Next step was interview with one of the hiring managers. They were 15 minutes late, spent the majority of the interview reading something on another screen, did not seem to be listening to me as I had to clarify aspects of my previous job on more than one occasion as they kept claiming incorrect things about my job. They also mentioned they had “talked to a a lot of people who worked in my company” and again stated incorrect things about my experience they had just assumed for some reason. At the end they told me they would read over the answers I gave that were recorded by the AI note taker and make her decision. Didn’t seem to be listening and seemed to have just had an idea in her head based on talking to someone else in a different department in my old job and wasn’t bothered to consider I might be doing something different.
