      Associate Merchant Interview

      2 May 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Lehi, UT
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Jane.com (Lehi, UT)

      Interview

The job required a bachelors degree and 3-5 years of experience, which I have. Unfortunately the job pays at a high school diploma level at $18/hour. FYI Jane.com: A bachelor's degree is a four-year degree. In these four years, you complete 120 or more semester credits or around 40 college courses thus resulting in higher entry-level pay upon graduating and entering the workforce. The initial phone interview screening process was very unprofessional. That was my first red flag. Upon arriving for my in-person interview I quickly realized this is not a company you grow with, it's a revolving door of talent and the company is very sexist. During my interview there were 4 people I would potentially be working with in the room, three sitting with computers working and the manager who was attentive and asking me questions. Multiple times the manager would ask if anyone else had additional questions and it was clear the others hadn't been listening as they would re-ask the same question I had already answered. It immediately felt like I wasn't worth their time. After the interview with the group I interviewed with what would be the manager over multiple departments who literally looked like she rolled out of bed and headed to work that day.

      Question 1

The read from a sheet of interview questions they probably found on google moments before. Tell me about you, your experience, your career goals, Why do you want to work her, tell me a time where you had to prioritize when everything was a priority, how do you feel about repetitive work, are you tech savvy....
