I interviewed at KIPP Schools (Columbus, OH)

      Interview

It started with a basic phone interview to gage my experience, interest in the field, etc. A week later I was scheduled for a second phone interview which was a bit more extensive and job specific. After that I was invited to do an in person interview with the school leader and do a sample lesson plan presentation involving 6 of their students as he observed. Following that he gave feedback and we discussed what was expected for the position. The whole process went pretty well, but I generally did not get a good feel for the environment, and it made me very uncomfortable in my interview when the school leader kept excusing himself so that he could scream at children who were walking in the hallways. Additionally, the starting salary is very low and they take out an additional 10% from each paycheck for a retirement fund (which is really great in theory, but not so great when the pay is already low). I was given an offer 2 days after the final interview, but I turned it down.
