I applied through university. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at KPMG (Los Angeles, CA) in June 2014
Interview
Easy and behavioral based. They simply wanted to see if you are a normal person that can work well with others. Your grades got you a foot in the door and you simply have to show that you are someone others will want to work with.
Interview was more conversational, fit-check type of interview, no technical questions about accounting or auditing. Mostly me asking them questions about KPMG and their careers than any school or accounting related questions.
Two back to back interviews with a manager and a partner or managing director consisting of behavioral questions. Interviewed were both very kind and personable, and interview felt like a way to gauge company fit
The interview process was very easy and went smoothly. You get a traditional one hour time slot and interview with two different people, one working in audit and the other working in tax.
