I applied through other source. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at MassMutual in Jan 2014
Interview
A local agency partner found my resume that I posted on an internet job board and called me. The initial correspondence of a phone call and subsequent text messages were a bit unusual to me (who has no experience in sales). Fresh out of college with my masters, I decided to come in and speak the MassMutual agent. Mostly, the MassMutual agent spoke about how the firm uses the software LEAP and he wants me to sell this product. The agent seemed very excited about this new program (LEAP, which is a multifaceted cash flow manager) and tells me all the great shining things about the products, company, and opportunities (I'd be making a lot of money -- he just didn't say when I would be making that money. Plus, all commission based pay) - rough sledding for a recent college grad with some to pay for a student loan. This informational interview proceeded for about an hour. Overall, I perceived the local agent as a person that is not a greedy insurance peddler, but I only had one meeting. I was offered to start right away.

Question 1
Very unorthodox meeting (wouldn't even call it an interview). Basically, I was given a brief tutorial about the software and was given tutorial of the agency philosophy. Then, I was asked my thoughts and what did I expect.

Interview
went well, was fairly easy, only had two rounds before coming into the office, overall was positive experience where i felt comfortable to be myself, although the internship itself was a sell to friends and family type of job.

I applied in-person. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at MassMutual (Walnut Creek, CA) in Apr 2023
Interview
It was a pleasant experience. I was jobhunting for quite a while. COVID and post-COVID created a highly intense job market. I was at a job fair, and decided to move forward with the interview.
HR recruiter was very nice, bubbly, and she answered a lot of questions with detail about different specs.
Later on, the hiring manager later became my supervisor. He was also very nice.
The interview questions were standard: "tell me about yourself" and "what do you look to gain from working with us."
after a few phone calls and 2 zoom interviews, I was in.
It felt more like vibe-checking.
They told me licenses and education will be reimbursed after I get accepted.
There is a contract phase where you are given 30 days to try out the job and meet a quota. If you feel comfortable, you can accept the full-time role. If not, no ties, no harm. (But the reimbursement will be out of your pocket).
