I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Meijer (Grand Rapids, MI) in Jan 2024
Interview
OnDemand interview: 8 questions, 4 written answers & 4 verbal/recorded answers.
The process felt extremely impersonal and ineffective. Seems to be just another step to eliminate potential candidates without having to directly interact with them. An "OnDemand interview" is not an interview - it is, at best, a one-way interrogation. An interview should include bilateral conversation, as the candidate should also be provided the chance to evaluate the employer and ask questions of their own. After the interview I had no more information about the position than I did beforehand.
You are left to infer that you are not selected for the position, as you will receive no further communication after the initial email providing the OnDemand interview details - the only way to know is to check the status of your application in Workday (which will just be changed to 'inactive').
I applied for several other IT-related jobs at Meijer (both directly through Workday and indirectly via staffing agencies) but received no feedback whatsoever, even months later - the application status simply stayed in the "under consideration" status in Workday. I have since withdrawn all applications.
Overall, very disappointed in my experience - I expected much better from Meijer.
