I was submitted by a recruiter, and the next day was told the company was "very eager" to interview me. I interviewed with the EIC and I thought it went well, though the job duties didn't seem to line up exactly with the listing. Also the hiring timeline was much, much longer than I anticipated (several months out) and I was told at the end that they would be in touch in about 2-3 months for next steps. EIC provided their email address and said "feel free to email anytime with questions or for updates." The next day, the recruiter sent me an email reiterating the new longer hiring timeline. 45 minutes later I got another email saying the company had canceled their search for this position and weren't hiring anymore. The next week, the same job listing popped up with a different recruiter. I applied again and was immediately contacted, with this recruiter also saying my resume looked perfect. During the screening phone call, I confirmed that this was the same company and said I had just interviewed there recently, but was told the search had been called off. The recruiter sounded shocked and promised to investigate for me. Never heard from them or the company again, even after sending follow-up emails.
