I was originally contacted by a PPG recruiter through LinkedIn. I then had a phone interview with her. Soon thereafter the hiring manager calls me out of the blue and we talk for about an hour over the course of an hour or so. The next step was to set up an in person interview. Logistics were a challenge as the hiring manager was very busy it seems and a holiday is approaching. Also he is based in the midwest, I'm in California, and there was another person on the interview team with an unknown home base. It took a week or two for the HR team to set up the interview, and then a week later the HR team asked to move up the interview by a day to accommodate the hiring manager's schedule. Unfortunately setting up the interview was a slow enough process that in the meantime, I received a competitive offer from another company which I ultimately accepted. I really wanted to get offers from both companies to evaluate a better set of options, but I couldn't string out the second company any longer than I already had. If I would have interviewed next week as originally planned, it would have been about 4 weeks from time of first contact. I don't blame PPG for the speed of the interview process, but I wish the timing had been better. I was in between a rock and a hard place and I made the choice I thought most prudent. I would interview again with PPG if the timing was in our favor:)
