I applied online. I interviewed at Pier 1 Imports in June 2013
Interview
I applied for the position about a month before I received a phone call from the store manager. I was not home when they first called me and it took about 2 weeks to finally get a hold of them since they were going through inventory. When I finally received a call to set up an interview it was the assistant manager. When I arrived (about 15 mins early) for my interview I was told to wait for about 15 mins. I wasn't surprised when I ended up waiting about 25. The assistant manager interviewed me right there on the floor in some chairs sitting near the front window. It was a SUPER relaxed interview which are sometimes the most difficult ones because interviewers often will act super relaxed just to see how the applicant reacts. The only "real" interview question she asked me was "Where is the last place you received great customer service and why?" The rest of the interview was spent talking about school, where we lived, and our experiences in retail. It felt more like a "get to know you" conversation rather than an interview. I left fairly positive that I would receive a job offer. However, I had counted that out after I hadn't gotten any phone calls from them in almost two weeks. 1 week and 5 days after the interview, the assist. manager called and offered me a job at 7.25/hr and I accepted. I was then told to come in 3 days later to fill out all the paper work.
This interview was pretty easy, however it took them a long time for them to get back with me about anything. I was surprised that they had called me with a job offer because I had assumed they decided to "go in another direction." To interview well here, just be patient and comfortable talking with all types of people. My personal experience with this store has shown that they highly value a "people-person." That is ALOT of what this job consists of (customer service.)

Question 1
"Where is the last place you received great customer service and why?"
I interviewed at Pier 1 Imports (Fort Collins, CO)
Interview
It was about 30 minutes long. The manager asked me basic questions about myself and the job. He wanted to know my availability and if I were able to unload the truck due to the boxes being heavy.
Simple and transparent process. After applying, was asked to come in to interview in person. Interview was professional and took around 45 minutes. Heard back from hiring manager within a week.
