This was not the typical interview process as there had not been a job posted for the specific role I was interviewing for. I had reached out directly to a member of the Remitly team through LinkedIn InMail mentioning that I was very keen to join the company given their mission and believed that they had high growth potential in the Middle East, where I am currently based. The contact asked to have a call to discuss in more detail where I outlined what I had in mind and why I believed I could be a good fit. That initial discussion eventually led to a series of interviews for the Head of Region role. I am impressed that Remitly was willing to take the time to hear out an external contact rather than being purely insular like some other firms. The interviews consisted of six 45-minute discussions with different stakeholders - i.e. Product, Data Analytics, hiring manager, etc. The interviews had a very personal touch where it was not a series of grilling questions, but rather a fluid conversation where the interviewers could get a gauge for the cultural fit of the interviewee. All in all, it was an extremely positive experience.
