      Software Engineer Interview

      11 Aug 2021
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Residently in Oct 2020

      Interview

I applied online with my CV and a tech lead scheduled a 20 minute informal Zoom chat where he told me a bit more about the company and asked about my background and goals. After that, I was invited to a 45 minute Javascript TDD pairing exercise which again was pretty laid back and actually enjoyable. The final stage was an interview with the tech led and CTO. I was given the questions beforehand so I could prepare examples which was pretty nice and made the whole experience less stressful. I was allocated 1 hour for the questions but it did not take this long. The interview was followed by an informal team chat which was a good opportunity to ask about the ways of working and it gave me a good insight into the company culture. I received an offer the same day and it was probably my most positive interview experience.

      Software Engineer Interview

      26 Oct 2019
      Anonymous employee
      London, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Residently (London, England) in Oct 2019

      Interview

Initial stage was a telephone interview with a recruiter. This was relaxed and basically an informal chat. I was then invited to conduct a video call with the tech lead. Again this was quite informal and relaxed. I was asked about my experience and what I knew about the company. I was also given the opportunity to ask questions about the role/company. The final stage was a face to face interview with the tech lead and the CTO. I was made to feel really welcome and again it was a relaxed environment. I answered some competency based questions which were provided before the interview. I then met some of the team and they are looking at how you interact with them and whether personally you are a fit for the organisation. Finally, there was a pairing exercise with one of the developers. All in all a nice process, which was completed quickly. As someone who hasn't attended many tech interviews, it was a nice experience.
