I applied online. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at San Jose Public Library (San Jose, CA) in July 2017
Interview
Candidates meet with a committee of at least three people, all senior managers. They are only allowed to ask you ten questions from a binder supplied by the city. You can answer freely and ask questions freely, but they are not allowed to ask you any question that isn't in the binder. This can make for an awkward interview if you're not prepared.
