I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Sears (Rochester, NY) in Aug 2009
Interview
i filled out an application online and then got an interview date. I came to the interview and spoke with the Human Resources associate. I was then told to come back for another interview with the Loss Prevention lead and also the store manager. After that, I was told to go to a local lab and submit a drug test. The results came back negative and then I was given a start date and for the next two weeks i came in and did training.

Question 1
Name a situation where you had to diffuse an irate customer situation
I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Sears (Minneapolis, MN) in Aug 2014
Interview
Applied online, took assessment at that time. Received a call from the LPM I would be working for to set up an interview about 3 days after applying. LPM was very laid back and around my age. Interview was mostly skipped as all the questions were about sales, LPM said "you aren't selling anything in this job". Set up a 2nd interview halfway through the first, for the following day. 1st interview took 45mins to an hour.
2nd interview was with the store manager, who only looked over the first interview notes and verified it was correct. Was given notice I would receive offer via email later that day. 2nd interview took 10 mins.
Email came with extremely low offer. Talked with recruiter about the pay and ended up getting exactly what I asked for. Which was $3.40/hr more than originally offered.

Question 1
Tell me a time when you had a difficult situation where you had to think fast?
I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Sears in June 2014
Interview
I started off by looking directly at the website for openings. I filled out the application around 2 in the morning. The hiring manager called around 3 in the afternoon asking if I would take the pre-employment test. It was 90 questions and you could not use any aid. Passed with flying colors, but I had managed a similar dept. since 2012 so I've been the interviewer asking similar questions. I then was scheduled for a panel interview. It was with the hiring manager and store manager. This was more of an interrogation and the questions were constant for 65 minutes.

Question 1
If you've never been a manger, you'd drown. They base their questions on being a "manager" not an employee working under someone.

Interview
Online test of your knowledge of Loss Prevention and Retail. Answer honestly, and assume that everyone steals. Typical in person interview with LP Manager. Basic questions about your experience, your attitude, your thoughts on theft. If they like you, you interview with the store manager. Unless he/she really doesn't like you, if you get an interview with the Store manager, they will make you an offer. Once you accept, you will go through an more comprehensive background check than a normal employee and have to take the standard drug test. Fail either and you will not get the job.

Question 1
Nothing atypical and no difficult questions. Standard LP type questions. Assume that everyone will steal if given the opportunity to do so.
