I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Telstra.
Interview
It was over Video Conference - the Video unit was not the greatest and felt like perhaps at times when I was answering questions they were looking at my forehead. I get the person I'd be supporting travels a lot but this wasn't the greatest interview experience I've had. I felt comfortable and confident but the setup was not the greatest for a 30 minute interview

I applied online. The process took 4+ months. I interviewed at Telstra in February 2015.
Interview
- Phone screen and psychometric test 4 weeks after initial application.
- Recruiter interview 1 week later.
- In person interview with the hiring manager 3 weeks after that.
- Job offer 5 weeks later and only after pushing.
The interview process was very personable, using the STAR method (though Telstra call it something else), and I was prompted with ways to think around questions I couldn't answer well initially. It felt like a very long drawn out process, however long processes are just as standard with many other large companies. Part of this was impatience on my part, and HR did what they could to speed up the process and kept me in the loop the whole time.

Interview
1 phone interview: 2 x f2f interviews (with Director): Psych Assessment .
Indicated preferred candidate, then advised policy change overnight dictated an internal appointment must be made! Internal communications between Management and recruiting team needs improvement. The cost to Telstra in time of their recruitment team, and flying Directors into Melbourne for interview is significant. The cost to the applicant in time commitment is significant also. Damage to Telstra’s reputation due to their internal management issues is unfortunate. There are great opportunities there.
