It was very friendly and positive. They have an amazing benefits package. I made it thru two rounds of interviews. They followed up with a phone call instead of a rejection letter. It was a positive experience.

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Palo Alto, CA
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at VMware (Palo Alto, CA) in Feb 2023
Recruiter reached out on linkedin and scheduled a OA. I had 4 rounds for the role. Online coding assessment was a very different questions which wanted to check the Java experience overall. 1: Managerial round: It was basically about my fit for the role and questions surrounding what work I am doing. 2: System design and my overall experience. The question was company specific and involved a lot of questions regarding approaches and what exactly was implemented. Some questions on K8s as well 3: Coding round, it was similar to a leetcode style questions but required to print all the string permutations of a particular string which made it really tough. Simple Java QS apart from this. Overall nice process and the people involved were very kind and polite.
- Remove duplicate characters from a string and form a unique string from that. Print all combinations.

It was very quick and effective for choosing someone to hire. However, The interview process was a little bit hard for a junior software engineer. Overall, thank you for the VMWare interest, it was a pleasure to meet them.

I applied through university. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at VMware (San Francisco, CA) in Oct 2022
Solid process, interviewer was very helpful. I did not understand the question at first but she helped me in depth after I started asking questions to her. I got the question right but I was slow at coming to the conclusion.

Initial online assessment, followed by a technical interview where the interviewer coded while sharing their screen, and I told him what to do while doing "testing-based" coding, which involved writing out the tests that we expected our application to pass, then writing the code that was needed to make it pass.

Multiple email exchanges with HR, then a call with a special officer that is in charge of booking 3 interviews (first general talk, 2 technical). After the first interview got a rejection with a reasoning that the interviewer didn’t fancy the way I keep up to date with the latest technologies. Rather clumsy excuse and waste of time. Why plan and prepare for 3 interviews as a group (also confirmed by the interview booker officer) and in reality having them as an individual stage each?
- What are your ways to keep up to date with the latest technologies?
