      Cashier/Customer Service Interview

      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Whole Foods Market in Feb 2011

      Interview

Applied online, contacted by phone to come in for first interview with the Assoc. Team Leader (ATL), Customer Service. Interview was 1:1 in the cafe. Questions loosely followed a written script. ATL wrote down some of my responses. Questions were mostly focused on relevant customer service experience (I have over 10 years) and general knowledge about WFM. Very important is your availability during store hours (I was available all shifts/all days). At the end of the interview he invited me to come back the next day to meet with the Team Leader, Customer Service and he explained that WFM has a 3 step interview process. The second interview was 1:1 with the Team Leader (TL) in the cafe. He also had a script but didn't really use it. TL didn't write down any of my responses and I believe he had made up his mind almost instantly, which is unfortunate. Neither interviewer had read my application or resume in advance, be prepared to give your 2 minute elevator speech if you want to showcase your experience. The TL on the second interview asked a few questions about customer service, your best/your worst experience with a customer, what defines excellent customer service? and a little bit about WFM. Mostly wanted to know practical information such as: Can you lift 50 lbs? Can you work by the door in the cold? Can you stand for the entire shift? Can you attend our 6 am meetings once per month? Are you willing to flex into other areas in the store? Are you able to work inventory? (I responded affirmatively to all questions). TL told me they would contact me for 3rd interview with the Asst. Store Leader if they were interested, but apparently he wasn't. The next day I received a message from another employee that the position was to be filled by another candidate. No other feedback was given. My impression is that you should focus on "clicking" with the interviewer's personality. It's possible he wanted a younger candidate.?

      Interview

I applied online and was invited to interview on a hiring day. First I interviewed with the Team Leader of another department and then with the Customer Service Team Leader. It was a pretty straightforward interview, at the end they asked about my availability and then I think I got the offer on the spot.

      Interview

I applied online, two days later I got a call to set up an interview. She asked me on the phone to tell her about myself, then asked if I wanted to come in the next day to interview. I came in the next day about 15min early as I do all my interviews. They were still interviewing someone when I got in, but after about a 10min wait, they called me over to their conference area. There were two employees there who had worked there for almost 10 years each. They only asked me 5 questions and did not smile at me throughout the entire conversation. They seemed very disinterested in getting to know more about me. Its like they had already filled the positon and interviewed me because they had to. Very snooty and stuck up vibes. It's never good when you can already tell someone doesn't like you after just shaking your hand! At the end they told me they had more interviews over the weekend and I would hear back after that with an answer. Well, 2 hours later I got an email saying sorry but thanks for applying! I wish I had interviewed with the woman who I spoke with on the phone that set up the interview, she was sooo sweet and awesome. The two people that interviewed me had no emotion and probably wanted someone who has worked at a store for 10 years like they have.

      Interview

I applied online and then called the store to inquire about it and then received a call a couple of days later to come in for an interview. They do a little phone screen before the interview but it's pretty straight forward, after that they set up an in person interview. My first out of three interviews was with one manager and one supervisor who directly work with the front end cashiers and customer service. It was just normal questions like what you expect from the company, why WFM and just past situations and how you handled them. They had me come back the next day for my second interview with one of the general managers and another supervisor I believe, the questions were a lot more in depth and they really want to know a lot about you and how you handle/react to different situations. After that I interviewed with another manager I'm not sure what department she was in but she seemed high up. The third interview was very quick out of all the others one did just basically summarized everything and told me how the final interview process would be. After that they came back with an offer and I signed the paperwork and now just wait for them to gather more information about me and do my background check. Overall, the this is the most lengthy and extensive interview process I have ever done for an entry level position but the pay is good and so are the benefits for a PT position. The interviews lasted about 1-2 and half hours so be prepared.
