      Sales Interview

      12 Dec 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Zillow (New York, NY) in Nov 2016

      Interview

Applied online. Heard from HR in a matter of days for initial phone screening. Elevated to next rounds including hiring manager, director and vp. All interviews were done by phone as they had a short timeline. Sent thank you emails. Received rejection via HR system-generated email, not even a personal note or call.

No questions really stood out. They talked a lot.

Hi, my name is Annie Rihn, VP Recruiting. I wanted to follow up to the interview you had for the sales role in NY. Thank you for your interest in the opportunity and for taking the time to speak with several of our leaders during the interview process. As you know, we are growing a brand new sales team and are fortunate to have a lot of applicants in various stages of the interview process. We always try to do our very best to keep incredibly quick and constant communication between all candidates and our recruiters and unfortunately this can result in more email communication rather than our preferred live conversations. I hope you’ll continue to look for opportunities within Zillow Group and would be happy to follow up if you have any additional questions or concerns.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through other source. I interviewed at Zillow (Chesapeake, VA) in May 2026

      Interview

I was scheduled for the initial phone screen interview, but the recruiter was sick. I was instructed by a text to reschedule on her Calendly. I did it immediately but the date was 2 Weeks out. Then she didn't see it on her calendar and I had to pick another date on the calendar that was further out. The day of the first reschedule, I received an email that the meeting was scheduled for that date, so I contacted her and had my interview. I then was moved on to the next step, but it was an AI interview. It was a mock call. I knew the basics about the product but AI was asking more in depth questions. I answered the best I could. AI said he only had a moment, so when I wasn't answering his question, and he was yelling at me (AI), I tried to schedule an appointment with him for the next day. He agreed to it and just said, "BYE!!!!!!" in a yelling voice. I didn't move to the next step, and did not get any feedback when they let me know that I wasn't moving forward. It was okay, because I don't want to work for a company that treats future employees that way.

The bot wanted to know about his metrics and what he can do to make them better or he would dump the service.

      Application

I interviewed at Zillow (Seattle, WA)

      Interview

Diligent and intense for an inside sales position. Didn't really do a great job of selling the opportunity of the position, and made it seem like it would just be a grind.

      Easy interview

      Application

      I interviewed at Zillow

      Interview

Process was very shallow. Did a couple phone interviews and then came on site and went through a meeting gauntlet meeting 5 different people for a 1/2 hour each, but each person I had to re-explain my background etc to and never got to really go deep with any person. Very strange process compared to other leading tech companies.
