HORRIBLE interview experience.
Had an initial call with a recruiter that went fairly well. Was immediately moved to a final round interview (red flag) with two engineering managers.
Come the day of the interview, neither manager had any idea who I was or what position I was applying for. The first manager had me work out some bit string problems verbally (what?) for 30 minutes as he gradually became more and more irritable. He ended the interview early.
I was then passed to the next manager for my final interview. There was a language barrier between us so he passed me off to another interviewer and dropped off the call. I was asked to write a simple Python program to pull client IPs out of some log files. This would have been fine if I was given an actual editor to code in - instead I was told to type out my answer in the Zoom chat as I was working through it.
After that was done, my interviewer spent the next 45 minutes complaining about the WLB at Zoom and their awful deployment processes. I was told I would be working weekends and would need to be available to support developers in China. I'm honestly grateful to this interviewer - he really helped me dodge a bullet.
In short, tons of technical and cultural red flags EVERYWHERE. I've omitted some of them here but you can get a decent picture of how terrible this experience was. I never heard back from the company afterwards.
