Justified why I am worth what i asked for Good tip - don't tell them your previous salary. It's none of their business and they are only talking to you right now because the range you require is within the range they are paying.
How can I trust that you will stick around since you have travelled so much, we are looking for someone who wants to stay long term with the company? (Context: I went travelling for 2 years about a year ago and I am a woman)
Me: I've finished travelling and want to buy a house and focus on my career. Manager: Okay, come back, settle down, buy a house and have babies (something like that, defiantly mentioned babies.) Me: *In my mind: UMMMMM*
Me: No, I was talking to someone in reception and that made me relax. Manager: Is that your brother? Me: Um no, Just someone I met in reception, he is here for a meeting for truck driving work. He was worked for the company in the past. Manager: I dont think so. *with a funny face* Me: *In my mind: Um, okay, because I just make stuff up* * I feel like his response was this way because the man in reception looked casual, as truck drivers normally are. The manager seemed snobby and did not want to associate this man with the company. The man in reception was actually really nice and knew heaps about the company, he told me more than what I knew about the company, he was a top bloke.
Me: I'd say that I'm honest and hard working. Manager: *Rolls his eyes* Me: *Paused in shock* I did say more after this, I just cant remember because I was super uncomfortable and probably still in shock.
