Everyone I spoke to was polite and respectful. The process itself began with a standard recruiter screen followed by a straightforward one hour technical interview. I was then send a "work sample" which consisted of building and hosting a fully containerized and tested RESTful API, NoSQL DB, and caching service with ten endpoints that cache GET results. The assignment isn't intellectually difficult, but it requires an outrageous amount of time and effort for the third step in a six step interview process. During the technical screen, the interviewer mentioned on two occasions that they are looking for "a certain caliber of engineer," and it's clear that what they're really testing the candidates for is lack of professional boundaries and willingness to be overworked.
