    I have been working at Bloomingdale's full-time

    Pros

Beautiful store, luxury product assortment, generous time off & discounts for associates. Get to work with other experienced professionals which is joyous. Have had the distinct pleasure of working with some of the very best in the retail industry.

    Cons

Been in retail my whole career & have never seen so much high level talent go out the door.. Valuable contributions seem to get overlooked. Is it because there is so much going on at any one time that the processes get in the way? During my tenure I have observed way too many rare, hard-to-find, dedicated employees leaving for other retailers. Those competitors have snagged some truly amazing leaders & sellers. From the highest level in store to the lowest levels, very few stay for very long. Elimination of Merchandising Managers & their teams has pushed early morning grunt work onto Business Managers & Sales Professionals who need to be fully focused on developing relationships with customers & driving sales. Reporting is a challenge to navigate in comparison to other luxury retail operations.

    Advice to Management

If you ask your employees to do 100 things and then review their job performance on 5 things, you are missing 95% of the things they do to make Bloomingdale's a great place to shop and work.

    Interview

All the people I met was nice. But the hiring manager was not there, they arrange a wrong schedule. Some assistant talked to me just a few minutes. Then they never contact me. NOT fair...
