I worked at CDK Global full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Good, open culture.

Flexibility to WFH, to introduce new technologies, to discuss new ideas.

Focus on good programming practices (more in talks than in code).

A few very good leaders and engineers driving most of the 'pros'.

    Cons

Newly hired people are trying to disturb good culture to their benefits and management is letting it happen as they are more concerned about their own growth.

The technical stack is old; in a few years, it would be ancient unless fixed.

Most of the projects are in the maintenance phase, the company only needs good enough engineers to keep it running as-is.

Due to the continuous attrition of product managers, vision is not solid enough.

More focus on talks than actions. If you can speak about some 'keywords' you can get away with bad work or even no work.

Some people who literally focus only on buttering the managers are being rewarded in last few years, ruining the good culture the teams have had as newly joining people are realizing what is being rewarded and acting accordingly.

The recruitment process is in shambles. Some managers are putting their ego above everything.

Managers hold a lot of meetings just to talk about something that never gets implemented, to talk about feedbacks that they never work upon or just to feed their ego.

    Advice to Management

Focus on recruitment especially about recruiting seniors and managers. Some bad recruitments at higher levels are causing many engineers to leave.

Managers can learn to keep their words. Many times hikes, feedback actions are promised and are not delivered making people feel cheated.

Listen to engineers, when they come to you to talk about something, keep your mouth shut, ears open and listen. Some managers just talk and talk until people get tired and give up giving constructive feedback.

Lesser meetings, lesser talking. Please o please.

    Application

I applied through college or university. I interviewed at CDK Global.

    Interview

Quite straight forward process. HRs were really thorough and guided through the entire process.
Online test consisting of both tech and aptitude questions. If selected, you get a SMS and you have to go the interview next day.
First round was a one to one technical interview. and if you get through, another tech round takes place and if you get through that, then it was followed by two HR rounds where basic HR questions were asked and then finally an audio test for the people who have passed all the levels of interview.
After that the results are discussed.
