Mission: We have made it our core purpose to enrich our world everyday by championing sociability and helping people to live well.
I worked at Lion full-time (More than 10 years)
Really good people - good teams and leaders to work with/for.
Senior leaders on the whole are very good - approachable, good people as well as being highly effective at their roles.
For marketeers especially, organisation 'owns' the brands so you have genuine responsibility for entire brand (not just tweaking brands controlled by international companies)
Great opportunities to develop personally (good learning & development opportunities)
Great culture, fun place to work
Flexible work where possible
Owned by Kirin who seem to take a very long term view - allows the organisation to invest for opportunities not just chase quarterly results.
Are a lot of talented/capable people (and pretty low turnover) and its largely an ANZ focussed organisation so there may be more limited vertical career opportunities than a global FMCG business.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Lion (Sydney).
An unnecessarily long process. Had a short phone interview with HR who didn't know anything about the role. I was then invited to do an in-person interview. This was with 2 people (line manager and their manager) and went for over an hour. I then moved on to the next step which was a 2 hour long psychometric and mathematical test. I passed this and was invited to a second interview. This also went for an hour. After this, I received a phone call saying that I wasn't progressing to the next step because I didn't have recent experience in this department (as I had been doing another role for 3 years). They could've known this from viewing my resume so I feel that 4 hours of mine were wasted for no reason if they wanted someone more experience.
For the Long Term means doing the right thing. It means we will Be Sociable & Live Well, Tread Lightly and Grow our Positive Impact.
