    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at NYX Professional Makeup (Greenhithe, England (UK)) in December 2019.

    Interview

Following my online application, the process was as follows:
    - Online assessment (about 20minutes)
    - Telephone interview (about 15 minutes)
    - I was then invited to an "audition" in store a week later. This consisted of:
              - I was emailed a NYX headed document which I had to use to creatively describe "Who am I?". You're encourged to use this as an advert for yourself. I had to hand this over on the day of my interview.
              - Make up application on a model (I had to bring one with me). Had 45 minutes to complete an evening look. This took place at the counter, and it was quite intimidating as there was another person also interviewing for the same job doing this at the same time next to me!
              - I was then asked to do a trade test, which meant standing on the shop floor for 30 minutes, trying to encourage customers to come over to the counter and talk to them about products and try to make a sale.
              - I was then invited to have a one-to-one interview after that which lasted about 10 minutes. It was very informal, just like a short chat.
In total, I was there for about 2 hours.

For a part time position, all of the elements above did seem quite intense! But the two interviewers were so nice and friendly, and actually it was a really fun experience. Sadly I didn't make the cut - there were so many people interviewing though so I am not surprised!

    Interview Questions

    • During the telephone interview:
      - What are the current makeup trends
      - Who are your favourite influencers
      - What do you know about NYX?
      - What's your availability?   Answer Question
